MELINDA GREEN TEPLER

About

My childhood dream was to combine my love of writing and drawing by becoming a children’s book author and illustrator. After college I published two children’s books, and then worked as a copywriter, creating print ads and television commercials at several large ad agencies. I never stopped drawing and painting, however, and in 2006 I began to study botanical and natural illustration at the New York Botanical Garden, where I focused on traditional techniques of drawing, watercolor, and pen-and-ink. I began making prints in 2009 and to focus on oil painting in 2010.

I continue to pursue my love of line and color in natural subjects, landscape, and portraiture, through workshops and classes at the New York Botanical Gardens, the Silvermine Arts Center, the Center for Contemporary Printmaking, and in collaboration with the Guild Brook Artists and the Two Whippets Artists Guild.
