BIO

Melinda Green Tepler graduated from Yale University (BA,1977) and works in Westchester, New York and in New York City.  She is a painter, printmaker, and sculptor, with an interest in the relationship between visual imagery and literature. Her two children’s books, Rachel’s Recital and Bembelman’s Bakery, were published by Atlantic/Little-Brown, Boston and Scholastic Inc., New York.  She studied botanical and natural art at The New York Botanical Garden with artist Katie Lee; at Silvermine Arts Center, CT with Janice Mauro, Heidi Harrington, and David Dunlop; with the staff at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking, Norwalk, CT., and with Georgia Kung at the Art Students’ League, NY.

She has been recognized for her oil paintings on aluminum, monoprints, and drypoints.  Her prints on paper and paintings in oil are known for their spontaneous brushstrokes and use of pure color. Her work has been featured in The American Scholar and in many exhibitions in New York, Connecticut, and Philadelphia, Her prints and paintings are in several private collections in the U.S.

She is a member of The Center for Contemporary Printmaking, Norwalk, CT; Katonah Artists’ Association, NY; New Canaan Sculptors Group, CT; National Association of Women Artists (NAWA), NY; and in The Painting Center Art File Gallery, NY.
