My way of making art is to observe, and then amplify and simplify what I see as the most active, interesting elements.

My paintings and prints invite the viewer to put together pieces of visual information to create meaning. The information is given through the juxtaposition of dark and light areas, and brushstrokes of color activating form, pattern and texture, that create an experience. I use brushstrokes and a distilled use of color to take the image down to its essence. The image respects the way the brain takes in stimuli to create its own meaning. At the end, the work refers to the image that inspires it, but is far from being a literal transcription.

My love of nature, combined with the use of color and texture, is expressed through vigorous brush strokes, and creates a vision meant to be welcoming and also emotional and historic.
